If a group or person is in power (say the king or a professor or a max), when they are in the room with the less powerful group or person (say subjects, students or a min), the low power person(s) will act in a way that hides their true self. The people in power can never know who the real (low power) people are because the low power people only let themselves be real with other low power people. (like when the prof or king leaves the room and the people talk without the stress of the powerful person catching them saying the wrong thing).
Thus, power is stressful for those under it. This is true in political, professional, and personal lives. Those with less power often lead double lives because they can never let the powerful know who they are. They cannot get caught even thinking the wrong thing, let alone doing the wrong thing. So low power people use “tools of weakness:” cheating, talking behind a person’s back, singing mocking songs with other people of similar power, etc.
